Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 1, Verse 49
Pada 1, Sutra 49
Sanskrit Verse
Shrutanumana-prajnabhyam anyavisaya vishesarthatvat
Translation
This Cognitive Absorption is distinct from the insight gained from tradition and inference due to the nature of its purpose.
Interpretation
In Cognitive Absorption (without seed) knowledge is direct and truth-bearing. It is pure intuitive knowledge. The great Mahatma, Sri Parahamsa Yogananda described it well when he stated that Prayer is man talking to God while intuition (being the still small voice within) is God talking to man. It is the clear light of consciousness revealing itself. The senses and intellect are not involved, referred or inferred. It is the state of Grace itself.
