Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 3, Verse 37
Pada 3, Sutra 37
Sanskrit Verse
te samaadhaav upasargaa vyutthaane siddhayah
Translation
These psychic powers (Siddhis) attained in the worldly state are obstacles to Samadhi or cognitive absorption in the undifferentiated state of awareness.
Interpretation
Psychic powers are the phenomena of a constrained focused mind and are only signposts along the way to spiritual emancipation. Ultimately all powers come from the Divine Self.
Reflection
Fascination with psychic phenomena will only potentially obfuscate our search for the Source of all expansiveness, peace, love and bliss known as the Self which is the true goal of the Saddhak.
